Joint Review of National Programmes on Vector-borne Diseases_Group Image_1_Nepal

7-16 May | Kathmandu, Bagmati Province – The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, Ministry of Health and Population, with support from WHO and key stakeholders, conducted the first joint review of the national programmes on malaria, kala-azar, lymphatic filariasis elimination; and dengue control. National and international experts, governmental officials, and staff from WHO Headquarters, WHO South-East Asia Regional Office, WHO, Country Office Nepal, and partner organizations, visited health facilities in all provinces for the review and shared their findings to federal and provincial stakeholders. Strengthening surveillance and cross-border collaboration, enhancing healthcare worker skills, improving vector control measures, enhancing diagnostic and treatment services, engaging the private sector and partners, promoting risk communication and community engagement, and robust documentation practices were the key recommendations provided at the end of the meeting.
