Kathmandu, Bagmati Province - On World No Tobacco Day, the Ministry of Health and Population presented the Health Minister Bloomberg Award to three individuals and three organizations for their contribution to tobacco control efforts in Nepal. The individual award recipients are: Dr Bhakta KC, Senior Public Health Administrator at National Health Education and Information and Communication Center; Dr Rita Thapa, Public Health Specialist (also WHO Nepal Health Champion); and Mr Padam Joshi, Health Journalist. Likewise, Action Nepal, the City of Biratnagar, and Nepal Development Research Institute, were also awarded for their tobacco control initiatives.
