Access to COVID-19 tools funding commitment tracker

Overview

The ACT-Accelerator Commitment Tracker provides transparent reporting on funding commitments made between donors and ACT-A agencies against ACT-Accelerator Pillar budgets. The tracker does not normally report on pledges made by donors.

Urgent action to address these financing requirements will boost the impact of the ACT-Accelerator achievements to date, fast-track the development and deployment of additional game-changing tools, and address the inequity gap in access to COVID-19 tools between low- and high-income countries.

The tracker is based on data received from ACT-Accelerator agencies. All amounts are in USD and are subject to foreign exchange variations. Information on the exchange rates used for major currencies is provided in the Commitment Tracker slide deck.

This Commitment Tracker is a product of the ACT-A Hub with cooperation from the ACT-A partners.

The ACT-A Hub, hosted by WHO, appreciates the support of Germany and Kuwait in financing our coordination work.

Background

Between April 2020 and end September 2022, an unprecedented mobilization of sovereign funders and private sector, philanthropic and multilateral contributors had galvanized commitments of US$ 23.7 billion. The ACT-Accelerator Commitment Tracker provides details of this funding, taking into account retrospective cost adjustments.

On 01 October 2022, the ACT-Accelerator entered a 6-month transition period. ACT-A Pillars identified a funding gap of US$ 386 million for this period.New commitments received between 01 October 2022 and 31 March 2023 which correspond to the identified needs are counted towards closing this gap. Other contributions received during the transition period may apply to the previous budget period if they do not correspond to transition period funding needs. That is because these contributions were anticipated and taken into account during the budgeting process.
