The DVA function of the HIM Unit entails public health intelligence using WHO’s Epidemic Intelligence from Open Sources (EIOS), a web based platform for event based surveillance for detection of acute public health events and disasters. Over the past year, the DVA team screened over 1000 signals and detected more than 150 events of public health significance in SEAR.

The HIM Unit serves as the IHR (2005) notification focal point public health emergencies of international concern for countries in the Region.
