The fifth meeting of the FERG for 2021-2025 will be held virtually on two days, 15 and 19 June 2023. The main meeting objective is to reach consensus on technical and strategic aspects of the plan of actions towards 2025 reporting on the updated global, regional and national estimates of the burden of foodborne diseases. The Group will also be updated on the current status of ongoing and planned country support activities and on the development of the impact measurement framework.
Specific objectives are to:
- Agree on the final list of considered hazards and its associated health outcomes for the 2025 WHO estimates on the burden of foodborne diseases
- Agree on the revised timeline for actions towards the estimates publication
- Agree on the publication plan
- Agree on various methodological aspects for estimating the burden of foodborne diseases
- Receive updates from taskforces on key decision points seeking FERG’s endorsement
- Receive updates on the status of source attribution study through expert elicitation
- Agree on the plan and new timeline for developing the impact measurement framework for food safety
- Share updates on ongoing and planned country support activities
