The appointment of the next Director-General of the World Health Organization took place at the Seventy-fifth World Health Assembly in May 2022, following the nomination by the 150th session of the Executive Board in January 2022.
The election process began in April 2021 when Member States were invited to submit proposals for candidates for the Director-General position.
A single candidate was proposed by the Member States listed below by the 23 September 2021 deadline: Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who is the incumbent Director-General.
