The COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage Cluster Survey in Bali Province, Indonesia, 2022

Overview

Government of Indonesia has implemented an accelerated programme of COVID-19 Vaccination in several priority areas, including Bali Province, as Bali has high community mobility, being one of important international ports. Coverage Survey is particularly important to confirm the coverage results, and therefore, WHO Indonesia has supported Government of Indonesia through contracting University of Udayana to conduct this survey. The survey is conducted using mixed methods recommended by WHO Reference Manual, resulted in 86.28% coverage for general population. However, significantly low coverage was found among older population (70.50%). Among the reasons are the dependence status of the older population on their working caretakers to bring them to the vaccination sessions, also the uncertainty among the older population regarding their eligibility for COVID-19 vaccination and their vulnerability towards COVID-19. Comorbidities has been cited as the main reason for not getting vaccinated. Therefore, further outreach strategies and risk communication strategies are the key towards reaching the unreached older population in Bali.
