Overview
Globally, over 1.7 million new cases and over 10 000 deaths were reported in the last 28 days (8 May to 4 June 2023), a decrease of 38% and 47%, respectively, compared to the previous 28 days (10 April to 7 May 2023). During this 28-day reporting period, 144 of 243 (59%) countries and territories reported at least one case. The situation at the regional level shows decreases in cases and deaths in all six WHO regions. As of 4 June 2023, over 767 million confirmed cases and over 6.9 million deaths have been reported globally.
