In 2018, the World Health Organization (WHO) established the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on In Vitro Diagnostics (SAGE IVD) to act as an advisory body
to matters of global policies and strategies related to in vitro diagnostics (IVDs). The SAGE IVD is expected to meet annually to make recommendations on the content, format and implementation of the WHO model list of essential in vitro diagnostics (EDL) and on any matters related to IVDs.
WHO Secretariat has received and assessed all the DOIs submitted by the participating experts. In accordance with WHO's policy, all declared interests, even if they do not give rise to a conflict of interest that would warrant partial or total exclusion of the expert concerned, will be disclosed within the Committee at the beginning of the meeting so that other members are aware of them. Many of the experts have extensive governmental experience and expertise – and consulting with WHO – in the areas that are the subject of the proceedings, which are considered relevant and important for the challenging tasks faced by the expert’s group.
