Zika Virus IHR Emergency Committee
The IHR Emergency Committee on Zika virus and observed increase in neurological disorders and neonatal malformations met on five occasions from February to November 2016. Based on the advice provided to the WHO Director-General by the Committee, a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) was declared on 1 February 2016 and the Committee’s advice was issued as IHR Temporary Recommendations. The PHEIC was terminate by the Director-General on 18 November 2016.
